All Altegra portable event marquees are constructed with our public event compliant (section 238) advanced hexagonal aluminium frames in our commercially preferred Heavy Duty and more portable Pro Lite models.

An event marquee is a portable shelter, like a tent, that is designed and engineered to safely and reliably protect people from the weather when exposed to rain, sun, and wind. The event shelter is structurally engineered to withstand imposing weather conditions, such as high winds, torrential rain, and direct UV light from the sun. Yes, Altegra event marquee canopies have all been tested in Australia for their sun protection value and are rated for maximum protection. All marquee fabric roofs and fitted marquee walls will protect with a UPF50+ Excellent rating.
Are Altegra folding event marquees waterproof?
Yes, all our folding event marquees are covered with a 100% Waterproof canopy. Both custom printed and stock coloured options will protect your event attendees from a heavy downpour.
The addition of waterproof walls is also a standard built-in feature with our full-length, 360° inner velcro strip to enhance your marquee’s protection from the rain.
How much does a portable marquee for schools cost?
The cost of a school marquee depends on its size, strength, and if custom branding is required. A marquee that has been certified safe for school use will range between $800 for a standard coloured canopy on a certified marquee and $4,000 for a fully customised large-span marquee that can shelter 50 or more event attendees.

Are marquee leg weights required?
If your event marquee cannot be staked to the ground at each leg, it is a mandatory safety requirement to use marquee leg weights to anchor each leg to the ground.

What size event marquee should I buy?
The best event marquee size for your event will depend upon your marquee’s occupancy and its portability requirements. While a single, large-span marquee might suit your occupancy or sheltered area needs, its increased size makes it more challenging to set up and transport.
Therefore, while a smaller marquee may only shelter 50% of your intended guests, it is also significantly more portable and easier to set up than a larger size. Erecting two small event marquees and securing them together with connecting brackets and a gutter will provide the same protection area and be far easier to set up.
